Water Journey

Follow a droplet of water. Standing here you can view most of its
route.

Restless, hitching a ride on Pacific breezes, moisture blows inland.
Fog breathes through the forest turning trees dark green. Drifting
upslope, the drop cools and condenses, freezes, and floats down
on white peaks. From the highlands melting snow tumbles down
this steep-walled canyon, and joins other torrents to form a stream
on its way to the sea.

Saltwater surrounds three sides of the Olympic Penninsula. Viewed
fromt he air the glaciated mountains are the heart; streams and
rivers are veins and arteries. Water flows so steadily here that
people once thought the source must be a great lake in the
unexplored center of the mountains.
