Underwater Fire

The rocks across the road are volcanic, but there are
no volcanoes in the Olympics. Eons ago, underwater
eruptions occurred in the Pacific Ocean forming pillow
basalts. The rocks across the valley formed from
sediments shed onto the ocean floor.

Both kinds of rock were rafted towards North America
by ocean floor movement, then uplifted and tilted by
powerful forces.
